J. Hunter Atkins MD, is an internal medicine doctor and owner of Midland Medicine. He has taken over the practice of Robert Vogel, MD, effective August 1st, 2021. Dr. Vogel is stepping down after 38 years of service to the Midland community.
Dr. Atkins has been working in the Midland Memorial Hospital ICU for the last three years and has been an Assistant Professor at Texas Tech Health Science Center since 2014. He will see patients at the following locations, Clinic / Office (4507 Santa Rosa, Midland, TX 79707), Midland Memorial Hospital, Hospice of Midland, Encompass Rehab Hospital, Manor Park Nursing Home, and Midland Medical Lodge.
Outside of Medicine
Dr. Atkins enjoys spending time with his family, teaching, and traveling.

Dr. Atkins was trained locally, receiving his Medical Degree and Internal Medicine residency from Texas Tech University Health Science Center. Living in West Texas for over 12 years has allowed Dr. Atkins to develop a strong understanding of the culture, patients, and needs of West Texans.
In addition, Dr. Atkins has been recognized with multiple awards and distinctions for his work as a University Professor and Physician.
